Preventing child sexual abuse
As a social change organisation, we work to prevent child sexual abuse by engaging with people at risk of causing harm and concerned adults. The service aims to offer an environment where individuals can access non judgmental support regarding their concerns, while ensuring that the individual is held accountable for their actions. We have established a national advisory group to guide our work on Stop It Now! which includes organisations representing victim-survivors, criminal justice, research, technology and practitioners. We draw on the experience of The Men’s Project where we seek to intervene earlier to reduce violence and other harmful behaviours prevalent among boys and men, to build new approaches to improve their wellbeing, and to keep families and communities safe.
Wherever we work, we build community strength and help families to know the steps to keep their children safe from sexual abuse.
Our anonymous helpline and live chat are here for anyone with concerns about child sexual abuse and its prevention – whether they’re worried about their own thoughts, feelings, and behaviour, or about another adult or young person.
People who contact the helpline do not need to give identifying information, so can remain anonymous, allowing them to access support that may not otherwise be able to. We can help them explore their concerns, and take action to protect children and young people from sexual abuse and exploitation.
We also have online self-help resources for people concerned about their online behaviour, for people concerned about their thoughts and behaviour towards children, and continue to work on online resources for young people concerned about their thoughts or behaviours. These resources allow individuals to work through content to help them understand their thoughts and behaviour, and make positive behaviour changes to help build happy and offence-free lives, where children are protected from abuse.
