Concerned about your own thoughts or behaviour?

Are you a child or young person that is concerned about their own sexual thoughts or behaviour? We recognise that it can seem scary to reach out for help, so well done for taking this brave step.

We are currently developing a website to be able to better support children and young people, however, in the meantime, you may find it helpful to think about if there are any trusted adults in your life who you can talk to about your concerns. If you have an adult who knows, they can call our helpline for more support and information for you.

There are some helplines specifically for children which you may find helpful. However, without us knowing a bit more about what is going on, it is hard to recommend a specific one. Have a look at some of the below and see if they may be helpful for you.

Australia-wide helplines

kidshelpline 1800 55 1800 is a free (even from a mobile) and confidential counselling service for children and young people aged from 5 to 25. You can speak to someone via telephone, live chat, or email. You will be treated with respect, can choose the gender of the counsellor you speak to, and if you call back, you can access the same counsellor you spoke to previously.

eheadspace 1800 650 890 is a free (call charges apply though if you call from a mobile phone) and confidential service. You have to register for the service using an email address but you don’t need to provide your full name. Once registered, you can access a range of personalised services such as chatting to a counsellor one-on-one, joining the online community, or building your own mental health toolkit.

Turning Corners, Bravehearts 1800 272 831 is a holistic program that provides education and therapeutic support for children and young people aged between 12 and 18 years of age.

ReachOut is a free online mental health service for young people and their parents available anytime.
